White Women Cry Too Much
"By and large within the women's movement today, white women focus upon their oppression as women and ignore differences of race, sexual preference, class, and age." -Audre Lorde
All over social media and the news I see white feminism. Whether its painting vaginas on buildings to make a "statement" or wearing The Future Is Female tshirts, I am absolutely tired of it. The future should be unified. No matter what color, what gender, what creed, what age, what class, what orientation—that is what feminism should be, and actually is: Equality for all. However, since white women have pre-instilled privileged, they have made feminism "trendy" and I am 100% exhausted.
I see white feminism everywhere, and as I stated before, it exhausts me. I am a biracial woman, and . being part black and part white, I have a lot of people question my beliefs, and why I detest feminism. When in reality, I detest white feminism. It isn't feminism at all. It is dividing us all more than we already are. I hear women say over and over again that they hate men because they're heartless, stupid, and evil. The thing is, no matter what, there will be evil men and evil women in this world. So, get over it. In order for us to be equal, we have to support all toward greatness we await to achieve.
What I do respect, follow, and believe in is true equality. I find feminism to be a celebration of humanity. With rooting from female issues of inequality, it has spanned to such a greater amount of diversity within communities, including the LGBTQA+ community, as well as even religious communities. Women have led this movement for years, but we cannot let it divide genders, races, classes, and ages. If we do, then there is not point. Let men stand with us. We want to be equal beside them, right? We want equal pay, correct? Let them stand behind us and support us with our goal for equality. White women are not the only women who exist; therefore, let women of color and trans women be leaders.
Stop dividing.
