Clear Water, Clear Mind

Clear water is the "thing" I think of when I want to be calm. The fluidity of pure, clear water calms my anxiety and my brain activity. It's ironic because I'm drinking coffee, which is the absolute opposite of clear, pure water. The taste of coffee satisfies me only while I drink it, and then I end up overly hyper and possibly agitated. But, when I drink water, I feel nothing but refreshment. I am no longer thirsty. I feel refreshed and calm. When I step into the shower, I suddenly feel at ease. The water has the ability to mask my tears if I need to cry; become clean from the fresh water running through my pipes.

Nothing else can do that for the living. Plants need water, just like humans. All biotic factors within our natural sphere need water to survive.

Clear waters are what I put in my mind when I am overwhelmed. When God created Earth, our planet was a dark mass of just water.

Genesis 1:1-2, " In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." (NIV)
No wonder why the thought of pure, clear water calms the mind. It was the beginning of all creation.

When I want to bring myself to a sincerely calm state of mind, and redirect my heart, mind and soul, music also assist me:

LIVING WATER,  RIVER WILD IN ME // IMMERSE ME, IN YOUR MERCY // OPEN HEAVEN, CRASHING OVER ME // RESTORE ME, IN YOUR GLORY
Water. Pouring. Cleansing me. Cleaning away my worry and anxiety. God thank you for water.

In my past, I would find myself along the East River at night, just praying. I would also watch the river current, the waves, the crashing waters against the walls. Watching the directions of the water movements put me at great ease.

I grew up having the nickname of "mermaid" (only because I was obsessed with Ariel in The Little Mermaid and forced my mother to call me such at the age of 3 or 4).

Both my parents were swimmers in their youth.

I grew up swimming in lakes,
Playing in local park rivers,

Walking through waterfalls.

Many of my beautiful memories involve beautiful water. No wonder the thought of it brings my heart to a healthy rate.
